He reportedly said he always carries his handgun with a cartridge in the chamber and usually has a second magazine on him, but claimed he did not know where his handgun currently was, nor could he remember if he was carrying it that previous night. In a Mirandized interview, Emens states Norman first claimed he and a friend went to the bar the previous night from dinner and would later go to Teaser's Gentleman's Club for a short period. Law enforcement also found wet clothing in a bathtub that appeared to match clothing descriptions of Norman provided by witnesses. After responding to the scene, deputies were informed a male named "Zac" might have been responsible for the shooting and identified three witnesses who were still at the scene.
